Practices begin in August. For Football: For tackle teams, during the month of August your child will practice five days a week (Monday-Friday), two hours per day (typical practice time is 2.5 hours, to include water breaks). The actual days tackle practices are set by the head coach of each team after the teams have been formed, but most often, the practices are in the late afternoons, typically at Meadowbrook Middle School. Early August practices may be held at Twin Peaks/Tierra Bonita. It is mandatory that your child attend all conditioning practices during that period of time. After Labor Day, practices will be cut down to three days a week, plus one game every Saturday.  In Septmeber all tackle teams including cheer practice at Meadowbrook Middle School.

We recommend that families vacation before practices begin in August.  It is the month for conditioning and learning.  If you will be away during any practice time or game, it is highly recommended that you let your coach know in advance so that they can adjust accordingly.

Games typically begin the first week of September, with a preseason game the last weekend of August.   Once teams and field availability have been turned in by all associations, Conference will prepare schedules and give them to us. When we receive them, we will post them on our web site. Typically the schedules will be made available to us sometime in late-July or August. When schedules come out they are typically for the first 5 games.  Mid season Conference will look at teams and scores and do their best to match up like teams for the remainder of the season.  Tackle football typically plays a total of 10 – 11 games including pre-season. Home games will be played at Poway High School.  Away games in the Palomar Conference are located in Carlsbad, Escondido, Fallbrook, La Costa Canyon, Menifee, Murrieta Valley, Oceanside,  Ramona, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Penasquitos, San Marcos, Scripps Ranch, Temecula Valley, Torrey Pines, Valley Center, Vista and Wildomar.  The schedule will list the locations of each game and the website will have links to maps and driving directions.

The Season  can continue through the end of November and possibly through the middle of December, if your child’s team or squad enters regional and/or national championships.  All competitve tackle teams above the level of Mitey Mite are eligible for post-season play based on their league record.  Teams at the D2 level are eligible for local, regional and national championships.  Teams at the D3 level are eligible for local championships and a southern sectional championship with teams from outside the San Diego region.  Flag teams will play in a post-season Flag Fest.  Jr. Mitey Mite and Mitey Mite teams will all be eligible for post-season Chocolate Chip Bowl and Chocolate Bowl games.
